There’s a new FKT route… Magalies Traverse, a 76 kilometre un-marked route from the Hartebeespoort Dam wall to the dam wall at Olifantsnek. This route across the Magaliesberg takes in 14 trig beacons. The Fastest Known Time (FKT) of 15 hours 29 minutes was set on 17 September 2016 by adventure racers Alex Pope, Brian Gardner and Stijn Laenen.
Martin Kleynhans, winner of the 3 Peaks Challenge, knows the terrain up there. To the three guys he says, “The Magalies is really rough and hardly runnable so well done. Awesome stuff!”
