MEDIA RELEASE | ‘Transkei’ loosely translates to ‘the Place over the River’; a wild and mystic land that is drenched in history and carries so much promise. Trails that have been carved out by the local Inguni cattle over hundreds of years. Endless rolling green hills that characterise this wild coast line and swelling river banks that ensure water is collected many kilometres up stream. These are just some of the aspects this beautiful land holds; creating the perfect playground for theTranskei Tuff Adventure Race.
Teams of 2 or 4 will endure the task of navigating through the Transkei on a course that will take them through unforgettable parts of wild coast paradise. 150 KM awaits those who are “tuff” enough to challenge this unrelenting terrain. Mountain Biking, Trekking, Abseiling, Orienteering and Kayaking are the disciplines required to compete and prove that your team is Transkei Tuff!
Yellowwood Caravan Park in Morgan Bay; a mere 80km out of East London is nestled in the beautiful, indigenous coastal forest that the Wild Coast is known for, and will serve as the Transkei Tuff Race Village. The mystical grounds of Yellowwood Caravan Park will host adventurers,families and supporters alike; offering a provided tenting service or plots to setup your own campsite to those that wish to be close to the Race Village action; alternatively check into one of the many B&B’s or accommodation facilities within the beautiful village of Morgan’s Bay. Athletes will have tents set up for them to ensure sleeping arrangements are hassle free.
The Transkei Tuff is not only unique for it’s well designed and beautiful course, but adopts the excitement of a family fun affair. This adventure race will feature designated spots along the course, providing for families and supporters to cheer on their favourite teams and loved one, with the dual advantage of enjoying the spectacular views of the Wild Coast.
The Transkei Tuff 150 takes place from the 27-28th February 2016 where teams have 24 hours to complete the course. Wild Coast offers a true playground featuring a possibility of 250km of unspoiled coastline dotted with sweeping bays, rocky headlands and footprint-free beaches this will be an Adventure Race that truly takes your team on an ADVENTURE.

This looks awesome but they should also think about offering a longer distance race which would warrant the journey down from Joburg 🙂
