The 2014 Olympus team was a new combination with Julia and Chris Fisher from their usual team Capestorm WCAD Racing joining Alex Wagner and Tim Deane from Team Olympus. The new team worked really well with a massive emphasis on teamwork and always mitigating any hindering factors.
There was no doubt that Alex and Tim were stronger on foot, which meant that Julia and Chris had their work cut out for them on the trekking legs. Alex and Chris shared the navigation responsibilities with Alex taking charge on foot and Chris on bike. This combo also worked really well with the two always consulting one another to ensure the team stayed on track.
Tim “pack horse” Deane had the lion’s share of weight on his back throughout the race as well as a tow rope behind him for much of the time! Simply put… Tim was a machine! Julia is the type of lady any AR team would wish for. She keeps up with the boys no matter what! She is always cheerful and brings a serious amount of positivity and team spirit to the fold! Although her feet probably took the most strain, she never even complained once!
The team exceeded their expectations at EA 2014 and will come away from this race with amazing memories and a result to be proud of!
Huge thanks must go to Stephan and Heidi and the whole Kinetic team for all their hard work and dedication that went into the creation of this amazing event! There is no doubt that it was a resounding success and a feather in their cap for the sport of AR in South Africa! THANK YOU!
